Restaurants, cafes and bars

There is a host of restaurants, cafes and bars in Ramsgate to suit all tastes and budgets. For Fine Dining try Age & Sons, Eddie Gilberts or The Ambrette - plus if you dine with any of these 3 restaurants during your stay at Redcot House, you will receive free Wine with your meal (ask us for details). Or for a relaxed meal try Thai Orchid or Alexandra Ristorante.

Here are a few of our favourites.

Age & Sons – a stylish basement bar, ground floor cafe and upstairs fine dining restaurant in the town centre, with rave reviews from both local and national press. Great choice for a special meal. Advisable to book ahead. 01843 851515 or www.ageandsons.co.uk

Eddie Gilberts – on King Street, a few minutes walk from the harbour. Superb fresh fish and more great reviews. Ring in advance to avoid disappointment. 01843 852123 or www.eddiegilberts.com

Thai Orchid – past the harbour and up the steps to Westcliff Arcade, look out for the green neon lights. This is a great little restaurant and really good value for money. Worth booking to avoid disappointment in the busy months. 01843 585505 or www.thaiorchidramsgate.co.uk.

Alexandra Ristorante – a great family run Italian restaurant along Harbour Parade, everything is freshly prepared and you shouldn’t need to book. Recently featured on channel 5's Restaurant Rescue programme! 01843 590595 or www.alexandraristorante.co.uk

Belgium Bar & Cafe – at the end of Harbour Parade, a truly unique place for a drink, snack or dinner. There is outside seating, occasional live music and usually some interesting local art on display. www.belgiumcafe.co.uk

La Magnolia, another good Italian on Westcliff Arcade, just past Thai Orchid. 01843 580477.

Also on Westcliff Arcade is a long established Indian restaurant and a quaint little French restaurant called Bon Appetit which our guests have had positive feedback about.

The Sovereign – a large ‘Wetherspoon’ style pub in Harbour Street with good value food, wine and Costa coffee.

The Ambrette - award winning exotic cuisine in Margate. Recommended in the Michelin and Good Food Guides, which can't be wrong. Book through us and you'll received a free glass of sparkling wine on arrival. 01843 231504. www.theambrette.co.uk

Pizza Express – consistently good food and a great atmosphere, in an old bank overlooking the harbour. Offers usually available, so let us know if you want to get online to print a voucher! 01843 592186.

China Garden – on the High Street, they usually offer an ‘eat as much as you like’ menu and the food is authentic and freshly cooked. 01843 588 058.

Saffron – about half way up Harbour Street, an Indian restaurant with some more unusual dishes, great presentation and friendly service. 01843 852877.

Miles Bar – on Harbour Parade, always busy and a great people watching venue over a glass of wine or a coffee, whatever the weather. Some food is available. 01843 585008.

Peter’s Fish Factory – probably the best fish & chips in town, towards the end of Harbour Parade – eat in or takeaway and open until late.

Caffe Nero – no introduction needed! In the middle of the town at the crossroads of Harbour Street and the High Street.

On Harbour Parade you can also find a number of other daytime coffee houses that turn into lively bars in the evening. Both also have live music and a wide ranging menu. Try Enoteca (01843 591 953) or Rokka (01843 599 999).
